June 12, 2014, thirty footballing nations come together in the land of samba football to jostle for football’s ultimate marble, the FIFA World Cup. The beaches at Copa cabana and beyond will provide channels and back up leisure and entertainment for arguably mankind’s biggest sporting spectacle.

The event is expected to attract over three billon eyeballs to live television across three hundred and sixty countries worldwide. Social media will provide complimentary offerings and streaming for all to follow and enjoy this super brand live, while television and radio broadcast on global networks will partake in this special media event.

FIFA, football’s governing body may hug the headlines for questionable reasons, underhand and unethical transactions, it has however a massive brand which is guaranteed to rake billions of dollars into the coffers of football friendly organizations, business with front row association with the game especially on a global platforms. Individuals properly positioned in the football chain “gang” also stand to profit greatly from the value chain ignited, promoted, organized and driven by the custodians of this super brand, the FIFA WORLD CUP.

Critically, FIFA’s long standing and loyal partners in the business will smile to the bank. From broadcast rights owners to hospitality, business, products and services. Mainly, financial transaction cards, sport kits and equipment manufacturers are all in the massive grid of winners at the mundial.

The brand perspective will be scarlet and incomplete without mentioning the main gladiator, the football players. Many of them stars and some super stars. Some unknowns too may just use this veritable brand’s platform to launch themselves to greatness, amazing new careers and riches. Some too with great credentials pre-championship may became flops and super flops. That is how cruel the game of football can be. Therefore the players, all of them pray for the rub of the green and good bounce of the ball for victory.

The brand will provide special moments on and off the field; stories positive and negative will emerge depending on who they favour. But at the end of four pulsating weeks of high octane football which poor officiating , allegations of underhand tactics, bribery, unsportsmanlike behavior would not mar the super brand, FIFA world cup will have thrown forth heroes and villains, winners and losers, cries and joyous moments in its traditional fashion.

It is hoped that local business and affiliates and international brands will make Nigerians feel a part of the frills and thrills and the money too that the super brand will bring to the table. Industry captains, private sector deans, brand manufacturers and custodians must make Nigerians part of the great event through the distillation of events and activities in the shape of experiential media, brand activations and leverage relevant event promotions. Service providers are expected to give a massive boost too to the event as it is a time to gratify brands’ loyal consumers. And it is truly hoped that decision makers will not be thinking through their pockets but for their brands and loyal consumers. Viva La Coupe Du Mundial!

My Footnote: As the world gets ready to celebrate the massive brand, FIFA World Cup, Cowbell Football Academy a sub-brand of Cowbell Milk, product of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, has a lot to celebrate too. Cowbell Football Academy player, 15 years old Toyeeb Gidado, a very talented mid-fielder captained Team Nigeria to the gold medal in the football event at the Africa Youth Sports Championship , Botswana 2014. Cowbell Football Academy’s other contribution to Team Nigeria under-15 team is Miracle Okocha. The sweet song from the Promasidor sponsored Academy continued on Saturday May 31st when another 15 year old from the Cowbell Football Academy, Samuel Adewole lead his school team, Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School to lift the Lagos State Principals’ Cup with a 2-0 victory over their opponents. Samuel’s brace at the epic final made him the Tournament’s top goal scorer and the most valuable player.

And so we have many thanks to give. First to parents who have entrusted their children to our care for football tutelage and development, the Lagos State Football Association for technical support and development guidance, friends of Cowbell Football Academy, too many to mention here individually for reason of space, our much esteemed sponsor Promasidor Nigeria Limited and to God Almighty for his immeasurable grace and provision.

Cowbell Academy Summer Camp is here and shall provide a very interesting platform to engage children gainfully this summer vacation period.
