Game of Thrones: Most talked about moments from premiere

0

The much anticipated Game of Thrones is finally back. The premiere of the eighth/last season was aired Sunday night on HBO but those who couldn’t access the HBO channel were able to watch in the early hours of Monday on websites that allows for TV series download.

From a die-hard fan’s point of view, this season was worth the wait.  The first episode has a lot of callbacks and references to the Season 1 pilot, but it wasn’t a surprise because HBO had sounded the warning in the reviews.

As a way of whetting your appetite for the next episode, here are three classic scenes from the season premiere that has dazzled viewers in anticipation for the next episode.

  1. JON SNOW’S NEW IDENTITY AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH DAENERYS TARGARYEN

In the last season (7), Jon and Daenerys met each other and viewers were able to sense the love radiating between the two which was later confirmed in the final episode of season 7. Unfortunately, they both are related by blood. It was a long-held assumption by fans that was confirmed by (Brandon’s) flashbacks to Rhaegar Targaryen’s secret marriage to Lyanna Stark. This led to Jon’s subsequent birth. Rhaegar was Daenerys’ older brother, which makes Jon her nephew.

We shouldn’t forget that the Targaryens have a long history of incest, having spent over 300 years wedding brothers to sisters to keep their bloodline going. Also, this was years ago, this act is now frowned upon in Westeros.

The anticipation here is, firstly, will this revelation end what they have together as lovers (with the possibility of Jon already putting a baby in Daenerys)? Secondly, will Jon give up the throne for Daenerys, knowing now that he is the true heir to the iron throne?

  1. SANSA AND DAENERYS’S RELATIONSHIP.

Apparently, Sansa has heard about Daenerys but didn’t meet her until the season 8 premiere and it is very obvious she doesn’t like her (Daenerys) one bit. Could it be because she wants to be the queen or because she has learned the hard way not to trust ANYONE?

But from the feel of the premiere, there have been talks among fans that they will become best of friends/allies.

  1. BRANDON STARK AND JAMIE LANNISTER MEETING AGAIN.

Brandon and Jamie’s meeting ended the first episode of this season (8) and it has got tongues wagging the most. The last time these two saw each other was in season 1 when a very young Brandon was thrown down from the tower for seeing what he shouldn’t have seen (Jamie and his twin sister-Cersei, making love). He became lame afterwards and was unable to remember what exactly caused his fall from the tower, which caused much strife in Season 1.

That was the human Bran. The person Jaime locked eyes with in the premiere’s final moments was the new Brandon as the Three-Eyed Raven, much grown Bran, and most importantly, he remembers everything.

This will definitely prove problematic for Jaime. But what will he say to Brandon? What will Brandon say to Jamie?

One word for the next episode please?
