Kia Motors Nigeria has signed a five-year agreement with Access Bank and Lagos State Government for the sponsorship of the annual Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
And to celebrate the partnership with the Lagos State Government and Access Bank on the marathon, Kia said it rolled out various online and offline programmes for runners and fans in the country to have an exhilarating experience.
For instance, it said in a statement that the ‘Selfie Contest’ gave the runners and fans the opportunity to share their favourite race moments on social media and win special Kia branded giveaways, while the winners of the 10km fun race for both the male and female categories drove home two units of the all-new Kia.
Kia said as a brand continuously looking for the opportunity to connect with the people, the marathon presented a platform for the auto company to engage the fans.
According the statement by the Marketing Manager, Kia Motors Nigeria, Olawale Jimoh, the sponsorship will bring the auto brand closer to the young lovers of the Kia brand including athletes and avail the company the platform to demonstrate its commitment to grassroots development of the sport.
“Sports sponsorship allows the brand to connect with the people in a meaningful way and Kia through the sponsorship of the 2019 Access bank Lagos City marathon has demonstrated its belief in the power of sports in engaging and bringing people together, particularly the youth,” it stated.
The Managing Director, Kia Motors Nigeria, Mr. Jacky Hathiramani, said, “The new five-year sponsorship of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is aimed at promoting sustainable sports development, spread the passion for running and encourage an active healthy lifestyle across the city of Lagos and Nigeria at large.

He added that it had been Kia’s honour to be a sponsor of one of the world’s fastest growing sporting events.
