NCC donates Endowment Funds worth N40m to Two Nigerian Varsities

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has donated Endowment funds worth 40 million naira to two Nigerian universities: Bayero University Kano (BUK) and the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) for the development of research in Information, Communication and Technology ICT sector.

According to NCC website, the 40 million grants given to the two institutions is to establish concrete linkages and deepen the relationship between the telecom industry and the academia in Nigeria; and to provide the missing integration and collaborative partnership required to galvanise qualitative research in telecommunications in Nigeria.

The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, while handing over the grant letters to the academia at the Head Office of the commission today, urged the two beneficiary institutions to deploy the best of their human and material resources capable of delivering the objectives of this initiative in order to encourage NCC to extend the gesture to more institutions in the future.

The Vice Chancellors of the two institutions, Professors Yahuza Bello and Francis Eze expressed gratitude to NCC and assured the Commission that the seminal intervention would receive every attention it deserves in order to encourage NCC to extend such collaboration and partnership to other universities and institutions in the future.
