Nigeria’s vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who is currently the acting president of Nigeria is a year older today, the 8th day of March 2017. President Muhamadu Buhari had during his departure to London on medical vacation handed Nigeria over the reins of presidential office to his vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and the erudite Professor of Law has been Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since the past 45 days.

The ‘erudite scholar’ as he was described by the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu in his congratulatory message was born on March 8, 1957. Today he celebrates his 60th birthday. Before he became the vice president of Nigeria, he was a senior partner with a commercial law practice firm known as Simmons Cooper Partners; he was also a Professor of Law and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

His wisdom, innovativeness and humble disposition have earned him the admiration and trust of Nigerians at large. Even in the absence of the president, he handled the country’s affairs with so much commitment and patriotism. Since he assumed office as the acting president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has proved his mettle, capacity and capability to handle matters of national interest, development and progress by his maturity, tactfulness and leadership style.

Prof. Osinbajo is married to the granddaughter of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dolapo, and their marriage is blessed with three children, a boy and two girls. Today, Nigerians celebrate with our beloved acting president as he turns 60.
