Ramires v Wilshere

High-flying Arsenal will welcome Jose Mourinho’s side to the Emirates Stadium this evening in one of the star fixtures of the fourth round of the Capital One Cup. The Gunners are looking for their first win against Chelsea in more than two years in all competitions.

The Premier League table-toppers have won the competition twice, their last triumph back in 1993, but manager Arsene Wenger is yet to win the Capital One Cup during his time at the club, losing the finals in 2007 and 2011. The 2007 defeat was against Chelsea, as Didier Drogba scored twice to guide his side to a 2-1 victory.

Chelsea will also enter the match in good form, after their last win against Manchester City on Sunday lifted them to second place on the table. Only two teams – Liverpool and Aston Villa have won the tournament more than Chelsea, who has lifted the trophy on four occasions.

Both teams are most likely to rotate their respective squads in order keep the team fresh to enable them compete effectively in the four cups they registered for. The likes of Juan Mata, Michael Essien, Kevin De Bruyne would likely return to the starting lineup for Chelsea; while Arsene Wenger is likely to start striker Nicklas Bendtner, defender Thomas Vermaelen, and goal keeper Lukasz Fabianski.
