Boko Haram Kidnaps 3 Traditional Rulers in Borno

The dreaded extremist group popularly known as Boko Haram kidnapped three first class traditional rulers in Borno state.  The Emir of Askira, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibn Muhammed Askirama II, emir of Gwoza Alhaji Idrissa Timta, and emir of Uba, Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza II. Security officials aware of the incidence have confirmed.

Security sources also confirmed that three rulers were seized by gun-wielding insurgents at 10a.m this morning along Gombi-Garkida-Biu road near Shaffa while they were travelling to Gombe to attend the funeral of the Emir of Gombe, Late Shehu Abubakar, who died on Tuesday evening in London, where he was undergoing treatment for cancer.

The Emir of Gwoza, Idrisa Timta died during the attack while those of Askira and Uba narrowly escaped death, reports indicate that many entourages of the emirs are still missing when the gunmen opened fire on their convey at about 8am.G woza Council Area is South and about 140 kilometers away from Maiduguri, while Askira and Uba are south and about 160 kilometers drive from Maiduguri.

It was gathered that the two first class emirs of Gwoza and that of Uba were travelling in the same vehicle when the terrorists struck. The Borno state government is yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.
