Doctors attempted Wednesday to bring Kristina Brown out of the medically induced coma she’s been in for nearly a month, but were forced to stop their efforts after the 21-year-old began having “violent seizures,” People reports.

Her father, Bobby Brown, and other family members consider the latest development a “huge setback,” according to a family source. “Everyone was hopeful that this was the sign that she’d turned the corner. We were so optimistic,” the source told People. “Bobby is beside himself.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Brown and Whitney Houston, has been in a medically induced coma since she was rushed to the hospital on Jan. 31, after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home. Police are treating her drowning as a criminal investigation.

There have been many reports speculating about whether the family is prepared to take bobby Kristina off Life Support; however, doctors said early on that there is little they can do to save her life. Last week, she underwent a tracheotomy.

She will turn 22 on March 4.
