In what was dubbed as the title decider of the English Premier League , both Chelsea and Manchester City could only settle for a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

A lot of expectation was hinged on the game as it was billed as the mother of all clashes that would define the season.

There were still other matters to consider in the build-up to the match, Diego Costa’s suspension and also the return of Frank Lampard to the bridge.

However, the game cannot be said to have totally lived up to the pre-match hype as both teams didn’t really ignite the expected fire.

A nice piece of work from Chelsea saw them combine effectively for the opening goal.
After a nice work from Willian down the right, he laid off the ball to Nemanja Matic to loft an accurate pass to Eden Hazard in space, who immediately squared it for Loic Remy to tap in.

However City got themselves back in the game almost immediately, finding a goal just before the break.

Thibaut Courtois flapped a cross and it fell to Sergio Aguero who struck a shot that was deflected into the net by David Silva.

Chelsea didn’t come out to score a goal in the second half as they were content sitting back and protecting their lead.

City on their part couldn’t force open Chelsea’s defence as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Overall Chelsea will be happy that they still have their five-point lead on the table, but with 15 more games to the end of the season, they are still not yet there.
