Nigeria started 2015 in the same position they ended it last year, with the Super Eagles still ranked in 43rd position in the world in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday.

The country didn’t move up on the log and they are still ranked the 10th best team in Africa, starting the year with 654 points.

It was not only Nigeria who failed to make a move on the table, as most teams didn’t because of the break that ensured national teams were dormant from the period of the last ranking.

However, it is expected to change when the next ranking comes up in February because of many competitions coming up this month.

There would be the Asian Continental championship and also the 2015 African Cup of Nations taking place in Equatorial Guinea.

Unfortunately for the Super Eagles, it portends could potential plummet on the table because of their non-participation as other teams are expected to capitalize and move up.

Even the forthcoming friendly games against Ivory Coast and Sudan won’t help, as they are considered lesser friendly games and does not account for more points.
