“An MDG Hospital in the area was razed down as health workers were attending to patients,” another eyewitness said.

A villager who failed to identify himself told newsmen that, “The herdsmen who were dressed in military uniforms caught the villagers unaware. Some were burnt beyond recognitions in their houses. Some people were even burnt with the MDG hospital.”

It was learnt that the attack, has also led to massive destruction of property including the only Millennium Development Goals (MDG) project in the village as well as worship centres.

Police spokesman Joseph Kwaji said the marauders came from neighbouring Plateau State.

He said: “There was an attack on Nwokyo village by Fulani herdsmen from neighbouring Plateau State. They crossed over through River Benue and killed seven persons in Taraba. They also burnt 40 houses during the attack.”
