The 87th Oscars Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), on Sunday honored the best Hollywood films of 2014 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

The Academy presented awards (commonly referred to as Oscars) in 24 categories, in a star-studded ceremony hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris.

Leading the pack of winners on Hollywood’s biggest night was ‘Birdman’, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s satire about an ageing movie star trying to reinvent himself as a credible Broadway actor.

The movie took best picture and three other top awards at the 2015 Oscars.

However, Birdman tied with Grand Budapest Hotel at the top of the academy’s league table, with both films taking four Oscars each, although the latter scored in less prominent categories.
