President Goodluck Jonathan is not new to kneeling for prayers but this time it is not the general overseer of a church that is praying for the president, it is traditional blessings for Jonathan by traditional rulers at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Sijuade.

Jonathan visited the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade on Saturday where he  promised to rectify the unequal appointment of South-Westerners at the federal level if he is re-elected for a second term in office.

Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has been heavily criticised for ignoring South-Westerners in its appointment at the federal level with Akinwunmi Adesina, Minister Agriculture, the leading Yoruba in his government.

Jonathan has since promised to redress the unequal political appointment of the South-West at the federal level if re-elected.

Jonathan said that for Nigeria to move forward, “the key thing needed is the implementation of the National confab”.

He said that his administration would fully implement its recommendation if re-elected.
