The magazine used an impact on public, social and political discourse to come up with the list. They are also said to have contributed in redefining Africa in 2013.

Mavin Record CEO and Music producer Don Jazzy, Actress Omotola Ekeinde, Author Chimamanda Adichie, UK born actor Chinwetel Ejiofor and musicians PSquare are the six Nigerians that were named.

Under the media category were, MTV’s Alex Okosi and Ebony Life’s Mo Abudu

Other renowned Africans on the list include: Idris Elba, Actor – Sierra Leone/Ghana, Alek Wek, and Supermodel – South Sudan, Trevor Noah, Comedian – South Africa, Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Fashion – South Africa and Omar Sy, Actor – Senegal.
