The Imo State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha, has condemned the withdrawal of security details attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
In a statement through his media aide, Sam Onwuemueodo, the Governor said that the reason given by the Police to justify their action was untenable and unacceptable.
He stated that Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, irrespective of his political party, still remains the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives and by virtue of this position, he deserves to retain his security detail as his defection has nothing to do with his office.
The Governor said that it should be made clear that the Nigerian Police remains the property of all Nigerians irrespective of their groups or political affiliation and not that of the ruling party, PDP.
Governor Okorocha, however, enjoined the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force to demonstrate neutrality by restoring the withdrawn security details of the Speaker to avoid the action being interpreted as intimidation or undue harassment of the Speaker and the APC.
