German international and Bayern Munich player, Thomas Muller has stated that he has never thought of leaving the Alianz Arena revealing that he turned down a big-money move to Manchester United this summer.

Muller who was one of the stars of Germany’s World Cup-winning team this summer, told Bild he chose to stay at the Bundesliga champions despite a significant pay rise offer from United.

“Yes, I knew I could earn more by moving,” Muller said when asked about United’s bid for him. “The figures that foreign clubs were talking about for me were astronomical.”

Muller worked with Louis van Gaal, the new Manchester United manager, when the Dutchman was in charge of Bayern – indeed it was Van Gaal who made the then 19-year-old a permanent fixture in the first-team squad in 2009.

But Muller said he did not even consider the possibility of a move to the Premier League.

“I can only say: a change was never really an issue for me anyway. FC Bayern is my club.”
