The New Galaxy S20 Devices
Samsung launched it’s latest smartphone devices – S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra. S20 goes out of the order Samsung is known for – as Samsung clearly skipped the S11 to S19 series and going straight to S20.
The new devices all pack the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chips which makes them capable of supporting 5G. All the phones also all have 120Hz displays which means better display quality than the previous devices.
As per screen sizes, the Galaxy S20 has a 6.2-inch display, the S20 Plus has a 6.7-inch display, and the S20 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display. These are pretty bigger than the S10s.
For memory processing, the S20s all pack a 12GB RAM. However, the S20 Ultra has a 16GB model. They also pack storage strengths of 128GB for the S20, and up to 512GB for the S20 Plus and Ultra. Battery capacity also promises a good life, with 4000mAh, 4,500mAh and 5,000mAh respectively.
On camera quality, Samsung gives its best till date, as expected. The S20s have a 3 camera set which includes a 64MP rear camera (S20 Ultra has 108MP) as well as ultra wide and zoom lenses.
The devices also come with a single front facing camera – 10MP for both S20 and S20 Plus and 40MP for S20 Ultra.
For Nigerians, the S20 will cost about N360,000 ($1000), the S20 Plus will go for about N432,000 ($1,200) while the S20 Ultra will cost N504,000 ($1400).
The Galaxy Z Flip
If you ever used a flip handset, and liked it, you might find the Galaxy Z Flip interesting. Similar to Motorola’s RAZR, the Galaxy Z Flip folds in half into a clamshell. According to Samsung, the glass is strong enough to bend 200,000 times.
The device also packs a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of built-in storage. When closed, the device will allow you be able to see important info displayed in a small window on the outside like answering a call.
Users can also use the 12 MP dual lens camera on the back for a selfie even while its closed or use the 10MP punch hole camera when its opened.
The device goes for N496,800 ($1,380).
Galaxy Buds Plus
Samsung also unveiled a new version of its Galaxy Buds. The new devices will have double the battery life (about 11hrs) and improved noise cancellation – although it’s not finite.
It also packs 3 microphones for calls and 2 for listening so its efficient for when you speak, not only for when you listen. The device is priced at N53,640 ($149), less than Apple’s Airpods of $160.
