By guiding Manchester City to a thrilling FA cup glory, Pep Guardiola became the first ever coach to do the Domestic Treble in the history of English football. The Spaniard has now won every major trophy available to him as a manager at least once.

With the FA Cup title being his 27th major title in 10 years, Guardiola is now the 3rd most decorated all time coach in football’s history after Sir Alex Ferguson (49 titles) and Valery Lobanovsky (28 titles ).

The picture below shows the statistics of the number of trophies that the City’s boss has won in his golden coaching career.

Meanwhile, prior to the FA Cup final, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola won praise for correcting a reporter who suggested his side were on the brink of an unprecedented domestic treble.

City will become the first men’s team to scoop the FA Cup, Premier League and League Cup in one season if they beat Watford at Wembley on Saturday.

But asked about the prospect of winning the first ever domestic treble in English football, Guardiola said: “Men’s, the first time in men’s [football].

“The women have won it.”

Indeed, Arsenal Women first won the domestic treble in 1993 and have since accomplished the impressive feat a further three times.

BBC pundit Alex Scott, who was part of Arsenal’s historic quadruple-winning side in 2006/07, tweeted a clip of Guardiola’s comment, adding: “We sure did.”

And social media users were quick to applaud the City coach.

Niall McCaughan said: “Brilliant from Pep Guardiola in his press conference.”

Broadcaster Jacqui Oatley tweeted: “Well said, Pep!”

City are unsurprisingly strong favourites against a Watford side who finished 11th in the Premier League.

We won the most incredible Premier League ever and we are satisfied, we celebrated for a short time and then it’s back to business,” Guardiola said.

“We focus on Watford. I know how difficult it was to play them here, their quality up front. (Troy) Deeney is almost unstoppable, maybe the best striker with long balls. (Etienne) Capoue is box-to-box.

“We spoke about their players. Hopefully we can stay focused for one more day and be champions of the FA Cup,’ Guardiola said prior to the FA Cup final. But the Spaniard has sealed the FA cup now and the trophy made him one of the greatest managers in football history.
