Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has revealed that Nigerian international Osaze Odemwingie could be offered a new deal by the club.

Odemwingie is currently sidelined with a knee injury that he copped in September in a League game against Manchester City, however the Potters have been impressed with his contributions since he joined them.

Hughes said that the club is preparing something for Odemwingie, but he needs to work hard to get back to form.

“There’s something in place, I think, so we will have discussions nearer the time. We’d like to think he would get back before the end of the season. He might not make it, but even so he’s working exceptionally hard to make it.

“He knows he has to work really hard. With that injury he needs to do the work now so that he won’t be compromised when he comes back,” said Hughes.

Odemwingie joined Stoke City last winter from Cardiff City in a swap deal that saw Kenwyne Jones moving the other way.
