Super Eagles goalie, Carl Ikeme has just signed a new contract extension with English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers until 2019.
Ikeme’s was due to be out of a contract at the end of the current season but has now committed to staying at the Molineux for two and a half more years, with the option of an additional year, Complete Sports writes.
The 30-year-old England-born Nigeria international has been at Wolves since he was 15 despite going out on loan on several occasions, and says he feels excited about the new deal.
“I’m delighted. I’ve been here since I was 15 years of age – it’s something I’m proud of,” he said.
“I’ve got good relationships with everyone here including the fans. I want to continue it and have more success here.
“For me personally I feel like I’ve always got a challenge here. And under the new gaffer I feel like the club is moving in the right direction.
“It’s given everyone impetus and belief that we can do well. I’m looking forward to being a part of that.” Wolves head coach, Paul Lambert, was full of praise for the Eagles no 1 goalie.
“I think it is important to get players like Carl Ikeme signed up to a new deal,” he told wolves.co.uk.
