Taye Taiwo has become the latest person to call for the sack of Stephen Keshi as Super Eagles coach.

The Bursaspor of Turkey defender drew inference from the sacking of Samson Siasia when he failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2012 African Nations Cup tournament, arguing that Keshi should get the same treatment as well.

Keshi has been in the eye of the storm since he failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2015 African Nations Cup, with many clamouring for his head on a plate.

His situation is still uncertain, with the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) yet to offer him a new contract.

“Everybody in Nigeria knows that when Siasia did not qualify everybody from the media, the fans insisted that they have to sack him, so it is normal that when a coach does not qualify for the Nations Cup or the World Cup he is not allowed to stay on, I am sorry to say that; they have to sack him (Keshi),” Taiwo told PREMIUM TIMES

“Nigeria is not just for one person, if a coach does not qualify you for a competition why do you have to keep him?”

Taiwo last played for Nigeria when Siasia was still coach and has since been overlooked by Keshi since 2011.

However he denied that he has a personal vendetta with Keshi for not calling him up to the national team.

“Please don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with Keshi, Amokachi or even the NFF. The players that have been called are also doing fantastically well, everything is in the hands of Allah. If I get the chance to play for Nigeria I will, if not, life goes on,” he added.
