Nicolas Almagro announced his retirement from Tennis today at his hometown in Murcia.

Having made over 10 million dollars (8.8 million euros) in career prize money and ranked among world top ten, Almagro quit football because he couldn’t enjoy Tennis like before because he struggled with a bad injury in his recent seasons.

‘I quit because in the past few years I have not been able to enjoy the sport that gave me so much, that gave me so many wonderful moments and that has made my dreams come true’, he wrote in his recent tweet:

Almagro, who won 13 tournaments and also helped Spain to a Davis Cup triumph in 2008, was overshadowed for much of his career by countryman, Rafeal Nadal, to whom he lost in three French Open quarter-finals.
