English singer and songwriter, Adele has confirmed she is separated from husband Simon Konecki.
Adele, who was married to Konecki for three years, have a six-year-old son with him and in a statement revealed, they remain ‘committed to raising their son together lovingly’.
Adele and Konecki began dating in 2011 and revealed they were expecting their first child in 2012. It was thought they had secretly wed in 2016 after they were pictured wearing wedding rings, but the London-born star has always made a concerted effort to keep their relationship private as well as keeping a tight lid on information about her son Angelo.
However, the award winning singer addressed their romance in public for the first time at the 2017 Grammys, where she acknowledged Simon as her husband. After she collected the Album of the Year gong, Adele said: ‘Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son you’re the only reason I do it.’
The 30-year-old singer however has not shied away from talking about the difficulties with being a parent.
Adele previously admitted to suffering postpartum depression after giving birth to her son. But the chart-topping star – who is one of the world’s best-selling musicians – revealed she wasn’t aware of what she was experiencing at the time.
‘My knowledge of postpartum – or post-natal, as we call it in England – is that you don’t want to be with your child; you’re worried you might hurt your child; you’re worried you weren’t doing a good job. ‘But I was obsessed with my child. I felt very inadequate; I felt like I’d made the worst decision of my life … It can come in many different forms.’
