The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has ordered the Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC) to recall all batches of the newly circulated bottles of 75cl Eva Premium Table Water products.

The affected Eva Premium Table Water 75cl included those produced between 22nd and 23rd May 2019 at Nigerian Bottling Company Limited, Asejire, Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to reports, the health agency demanded the recall of all the products because many members of the public complained of certain impurity found in the water. The water was said to have changed from colourless to light green, even as there is also the presence of particles.

The withdrawal of the already circulated bottles of 75cl Eva Premium Table Water will translate into huge losses for the NBC according to reports but the agency took the step in the interest of Nigerians’ safety.

Meanwhile, aside the company, the distributors, wholesalers and retailers who have already purchased the product will also be at the losing end because NAFDAC has asked for immediate stoppage of the affected Eva Premium Table Water 75cl.

In spite of the loss to incur, the Distributors have been advised to return the stock of the affected product in their possession to the Nigerian Bottling Company Limited, Asejire, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In the meantime, investigations are still ongoing as the company has been told to suspend all operations pending the results of the investigation.

The agency also urged consumers to report adverse effects related to the use of the product to the nearest NAFDAC office or via pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng.
