FIREWORKS GALORE AS NPL BRAND REACHES CLIMAX

nplThe Nigerian premier league is known for a brand of competitive spirit which has often led to league champions being decided and crowned on the last day and this season is no exception. The NPL will reach its climax this weekend as the top three teams go into the final round of matches with each of them having a chance of being crowned champions. The closing drama will not be limited to the battle at the top, as no team  has been condemned to relegation just yet; meaning that the team currently at the bottom of the table stands a good chance of survival while the team currently placed 11th can still be relegated.

Kano Pillars go into the last round of matches on Sunday knowing a victory over relegation threatened Lobi Stars in Makurdi will win them their second league title in as many years. Title rivals Bayelsa United who are second with 61 points will be away to Gombe United, aiming for the available three points and hoping the result in Makurdi go their way, while El-kanemi Worriors currently third with 60 points will be visitors of Enugu Rangers in Enugu.

The battle for survival at the tail end of the table will see Wikki Tourists travel to Dolphins knowing anything other than three points will dash their hopes of survival. Nasarawa United will be banking on home advantage in their quest for survival when they host Heartland in Lafia.  Nembe City will play a match of their lives when they host Sunshine Stars, while Shooting Stars will attempt to take all three points when they trade tackles with Kaduna United in Kaduna.
